Weekend Update

It's been a long hot weekend, and I still have an entire day of work to deal with. The high yesterday was 107 degrees, and today it is expected to be 109! This is not reasonable! I hate summer heat! I can't believe that any people come out and camp or BBQ when it is this hot, why in the world would you want to be out in this heat?! Randy whine done now!

Yesterday's squat challenge was killer, if you're bored give it a try.

So sweaty!

I ran a mile to stretch out after and felt much less stiff. Then we went to the city pool and played in the water for two hours to celebrate the end of the dance year.

I rode the slide with mini me

After that we tried a new burger joint for lunch, I didn't dig it, the food was a bit heavy and greasy for me, but to be fair it could have been that it was sweltering hot with no a/c so I lost my appetite. I went to work and survived the heat.

Today hubs and little miss let me sleep in, until 9! I can't remember the last time I slept that late, it was lovely. Then I got up and saw it was a rest day for my squat challenge, yay! So I ran 2 miles and did Tank Top Arms 2. Then I got my hair done by little miss.

She called this a monkey tail, she's got a career as a hairdresser if she wants!

Then I stuffed myself with bacon and eggs made by hubs. It's been a great morning. Now I get to go melt some more today at work. Hope everyone that lives where it will be hot stays inside and cool today!

Fast Friday 5

Since I love making lists!

1. A new discovery, granted I am sure most everyone in the world has tried this way before me. It is still new to me and amazing!

I adore gelato and this did not disappoint

I only ate 2 bites but I loved it so much! Must try every flavor to find the very best one, its a scientific requirement!

2. My mini me has auditions for dance performing group today, I love dance and this studio, I really hope she makes it. Either way she will keep dancing, but this is a fun little group. We also have the end of the year swim party tomorrow, which I know will be tons of fun!

3. My big girl is getting home from camp today. I can hardly wait. I miss her terribly! I can't wait to hear all about all of the fun things she got to do! She's such a great kid and it was weird having her gone all week, she's my buddy!

4. I'm enjoying my 30 day squat challenge, although after yesterday's squats I'm really really feeling the burn. I can't wait to see what my legs and bum are looking like at the end of the 30 days!

Could that be me on the right? I hope so!

5. The other 4 were good things, but I have to throw this bad one in the mix.

Seriously!?

Last summer was so mild that I almost forgot that I live somewhere that summer is usually a horrifying experience. Well, this week should make up for it. Luckily, it's supposed to get down to only 102 degrees by the 4th so I probably won't melt on my run (in knee socks, what idiot thought that would be a good idea...)!

Taking the Girls to Visit the University

I have to admit that I am a giant kid at heart! I adore cartoons, animated movies, princesses, super heroes, etc. my favorite vacation spot will ALWAYS be Disneyland! Monsters Inc. holds a special place in my heart because my oldest (and coincidently youngest as well) adored the movie as a wee one, so much so that a talking Boo doll was the key to getting her to complete the potty learning process. We ride the Monsters Inc. ride every time we visit Disneyland and have many Monsters toys. When we found out there would be a second movie we were thrilled! It made me crazy that we had to wait so many days to go (we even went without the biggest girl since she's gone to came, I've justified this to myself by saying that she is the only one who will get to go see Catching Fire, but once she's home we will see if she's upset...). It was so worth it, we laughed, we learned about our monster friends who we have loved for years, I cried. We had a great time! I can't wait to own this movie. We did not watch the movie in 3D, I despise 3D, I think it's a cheap gag and it triggers a migraine every time! After the movie we rushed to vacation bible school and the girls had a great time.

It was water day at VBS

I thought they'd sleep in since they were up past 10, but they surprisingly only slept in until 8:10, late but not as late as I'd expected.

Since this is a running blog I will say I'm still running, my streak is still alive and I'm feeling good. Yesterday was a rest day from my squat challenge so I'm feeling less pain. I only ran a mile today and tried a different Fitness Blender ab routine and it killed, I didn't finish, my abs are weak! I'll keep working. Them I did my 50 morning squats, Hindu squats. Have you heard of them? I hadn't, but you move quickly so I enjoyed them more than traditional squats. Now I need to get to cleaning a bit and my least favorite thing, laundry.

So Sore

I started a 30-day challenge yesterday.

I may regret this...

Yesterday it was 50 squats in the morning and then 50 more in the afternoon. It didn't feel too bad when I was doing them, or yesterday evening, but this morning, wow! DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) kicked my butt! I am so sore! Climbing the stairs is like torture, forget sitting down or standing back up, ugh. I ran a very sloooooooow mile first thing and then felt looser, then I started today's challenge, 50 plié squats with heel raises, those puppies were serious! I am going to be 50x more sore tomorrow! After that I cooled down by doing Fitness Blender's 8 minute ab workout, it's short and simple and hopefully will do something for my tummy if I keep doing it in conjunction with everything else...we shall see.

Monday Moves

So my crappy feelings of yesterday's ere banished by doing nothing besides laying on the couch and watching ALL of last season of True Blood and eating a HUGE salad (it was a giant mixing bowl) and drinking a non-alcoholic beer with Enjoy Life chocolate chips and coconut butter for dessert. So, the next time you feel crappy, dizzy, and nauseous, do that and you will feel amazing the next day! I feel amazing! I woke up nice and early with hubs and then when he left for work I went out the door as well to run. It's the first time I have run outside in a LONG time, like, last year. I didn't feel my greatest while running, but my crazy person phobia seems to be going away. I ran 4 miles and am feeling very good about that.

Not amazing, but I did it

When I got back in the house I did a Fitness Blender calf workout and the tank top arms workout again. Then I saw that a few of my friends are doing a 30-day squat challenge, so I'm doing it along with them. 50 of 100 squats for the day done so far.

Now I'm drinking my coffee (with glutamine in it for my aching muscles) and watching Larry Crowne

Does anyone else LOVE this movie?

The rest of the day includes making a butternut squash scramble, calling the pediatrician about my bug, going to DMV about my lost vehicle registration, and then heading to work.

Sunday Stuff

Yesterday was a long one! Work was crazy busy, and before work I ran some sprints and then did Fitness Blender's Tank Top Arms and 8 Minute Abs.

I need to use heavier weight next time. I'm not sore today.

My oldest left for a week of camp this morning, she is so excited. She's been to church camp before, but this is her first time going to 4H camp.

I got up and ran a slow 5k on the treadmill this morning and felt good, then we went to brunch, and since I have been dizzy and just feeling off so I'm home having a True Blood catch up marathon. I'm going to drink as much water as possible and watch copious amounts of tv and hope that I feel better in the morning.

Old School Blogging

I saw this on Carrie's blog and couldn't help filling it out. I love surveys!

A. Attached or Single? Attached.
B. Best Friend? I have a work best friend, my long time best friend, and a dance mom best friend. They all have so many great qualities and I'm lucky to count them as friends.
C. Cake or pie? Cake, but it needs to be an edge piece or a cupcake, so there is enough frosting. I do love pie too.
D. Day of choice? Wednesday - it's my day off, all the girls are home, and during the year dance is out early so we have time to hang out. I love Wednesdays.
E. Essential Item? My phone.  I feel like I am lost without it.
F. Favorite color? Pink
G. Gummy bears or worms? If I had to pick I'd say bears, or sour worms. But, I’m not a huge gummy fan, I prefer anything chocolate and/or peanut butter
H. Home town? Porterville, CA
I. Favorite Indulgence? Tough call... I'd have to say ice cream.
J. January or July? January, my oldest was born in January and it isn't sweltering out.
K. Kids? Four girls - 11, 9, 6, & 5

L. Life isn’t complete without? My girls
M. Marriage date? July 11, 2010

O. Oranges or Apples? Depends on the day
P. Phobias? Heights
Q. Quotes? There are so many good ones.  One of my favorite truths: “Whether you say you can or say you can’t, you’re right.”  Henry Ford.  Love that one and my kids quote it back to me when I call them on saying, “but, I can’t”.
R. Reasons to smile? Lots! My girls, my silly hubs, the girls dancing
S. Season of choice? Fall – nice weather, Halloween, new school year
T. Tag 5 People. Anyone who would like to, please feel free to keep the survey going!
U. Unknown fact about me? I am OBSESSED with horror flicks. I watch them all the time, e dumber the better. I do like to be scared, but since that doesn't usually happen, I pick the crazy ones.

My all time favorite! It's so bad!

V. Vegetable? Broccoli
W. Worst habit? I’m super bossy and impatient. I tend to snap at people and then feel badly immediately after.

Z. Zodiac sign? Taurus

There it is, a quick Saturday post.

Three Things Thursday

Yesterday I planned to do a Wednesday whine, but the day got away from me, so my big whine will be my #1.

1. I HATE peeling hard boiled eggs. HATE IT! So much! When I made 16 yesterday, only 1 came out perfectly! So crazy. Ugh, I wish there was a foolproof way to make them come out well every time, I've tried tons of tips and each works sometimes.

Is this the answer? Based on reviews I've read, I think not.

2. Yesterday was the day of a house full of girls. We had one friend over for an hour, then her sister came over too. Then after dance we had tow different sisters come for a sleepover. These girls have slept over quite a few times, so it's pretty much business as usual, just with the two bigger girls being entertained by their friends.

3. We got donuts for breakfast and they were divine! It's been quite a few weeks since I've had a donut, and I feel happy that I had one (or two) this morning. We will see how the bug's tummy feels in a bit, it's the first wheat she's had in weeks. We still don't know what's up with her tummy, waiting on the test results of everything that comes out of her body (except saliva).

Once the guests leave I am going to get my donut laden bum on the treadmill for a bit. Then we will head to the library. We have the first of 3 recitals tonight, which I love, so it should be a good evening.

The 6 Mile Run that Wasn't

I planned torun 6 miles this morning, I psyched myself up all day yesterday. I woke up ready, I ate some Jelly Bellys for fuel.

Yummiest than a Shot Blox!

I got on the treadmill feeling great, the first couple of miles were slow, but felt good. Around 4 I just started dragging. I walked for a minute and kept going, 10 minutes later I walked for another minute and tried to power through, I only made it 5 more minutes and I was just DONE. So, I ended it at 5.25 miles. I just didn't have it in me to finish. I feel bad that I didn't get it done, but I'll keep moving and try again next week. I have time to train before my 10K so I'll be fine.  Speaking of the 4th of July run, I am thinking of buying these

Pro Compression 4th of July marathon socks

I'm just worried that I will melt since it is a warm race. I have a few days to decide before the sale ends, I really want them... My new Mizunos did feel really great for the run, I love them! I am excited to see new colors next month.
Time to get back to the grind. The fun will begin soon this week, lots of dance.

Monday Again

I can't believe how quickly time flies by. Every day I think about posts in my head, and every day I don't get it written. I don't know where to find time to post most day, I guess I could spend a half hour doing thins instead of watching tv. Alas, I am lazy and love crappy tv.
Had a really busy weekend, Friday I hung out with the girls all morning and then ran a mile before work in my new shoes!

Aren't the pretty. Will these make me look like the Skinny Runner?

Work was long and uneventful. Then I had to turn around and get up early for dance recital rehearsals for the 3 little girls, the big girl had her rehearsal while I was at work Friday night.

Pretty ballerinas

I almost didn't run Saturday, but I forced myself to get a mile in while hubs cooked dinner. Yesterday little miss and I made breakfast for hubs and then I ran progressions on the treadmill.

Gotta show off the 'do!

Then we went out to lunch and I went to work. I was so tired yesterday! I'm still pretty pooped this morning, so the plan is to be lazy, run a mile, and then head to work. I need to run 6 tomorrow, so I'm hoping to sleep well tonight.

3 Things Thursday

I love numbers posts, and since I'm trying to get back into blogging I thought I'd jump back into this. So, without further ado, here are my 3 things.

1. There are things that I feel like I need to be eating or drinking. Sometimes I don't like those things, so I keep trying. I've finally broken myself down and can drink coconut water.

I kinda like you now

It's just such a nice and natural electrolyte replacer, and I really love all other things coconut (except coconut shrimp, I just can't do it), so I've finally found one that I enjoy. Also, my biggest and smallest girls really like it too. It won't be a daily drink, but I am glad I forced myself to drink it again.

2. I love summer tv! Royal Pains, Pretty Little Liars, Big Brother, and most exciting this summer is Stephen King's Under the Dome!

My all time favorite author and one of my favorite books

3. Libraries rock! Summer reading is in full effect in our house, the girls are reading like crazy in order to gain points for the summer reading program. Our little library is so very cool. They have such fun programs during the summer and fun little giveaways, my mini me won a huge container of animal crackers last week (which we are getting today). Can't wait to go hang out.

Now it's time to get my run on, I am going to do a pretty short run, probably only 20 minutes of sprints. I did get my run done yesterday, 3 miles in 33 minutes, waiting until late in the day is never my best plan, but it worked yesterday, and as soon as I was done the girls ran through the sprinklers, which they loved!

Wonderful Wednesday

Since I am off work Wednesday and Thursday, it's like Saturday in my house right now, except for the fact that hubs is at work.

I planned to run two miles yesterday, but after the first I just wasn't into it, so I walked the second mile. Then I went and had a pedicure. I love them, but the guy who did it was a bit overzealous in his sloughing and now my arches feel raw. Also, not the smartest idea to have your toes painted 20 minutes before you plan to put boots on for 8.5 hours, gonna have to out some glitter over the top to cover up some of the bad. I'll have to rethink the timing next time.
No big plans for today, I'm just happy to be off work and hanging out with the girls. Need to go to CVS and Target, and then of course there's dance, in the morning and afternoon. But besides that it should be a very relaxing day, which I love! I need to run at some point later since I decided it wasn't happening this morning, I just don't feel like it, so lazy! The big girl is going to a sleepover tonight and the littlest girl is gone for the week with her mom, so it will only be the middle two babies tonight, only two kids, weird!
There you have it, I'm a bore, but I'll leave you with (what I think is) a very funny meme.

You get the Mean Girls reference, yes?

5 Killer Miles

I planned to wake up early and run, but then I didn't. It's Murphy's Law that the day I plan to be up is the day I could actually sleep. Ugh! So I barely woke up before it was time to get ready for work and I had to fly out the door.

But I walked straight in from work and got on the treadmill.

My newest running entertainment is anything on ID, like Murder in Paradise, Deadly Women, Nightmare Next Door. I love true crime, can't get enough! It keeps me occupied while I run. Today that was hardly enough to keep me going, I hurt. I think it was a combination of running late, being tired, and just not being in the mood. But it's done and I'm glad. 5 miles in just under 55 minutes.

Now it's time for the last 4H meeting of the year. Everything is coming to a close and I am so ready for a bit of a break!

Blogger App is Hard to Use

I've started and lost 3 posts over the last 3 days, I'm not sure why I can't figure out how to use the app on my iPad, but I think I may have a mental block, seriously!
Regardless, I'm trying again. To recap, I've fallen back in love with my treadmill, I've run on her every day and am so happy to be running again! Wednesday I got up early and ran a 5K, then we had 2 hours of dance. And my bug's family birthday. Since she's been having tummy issues that we have yet to determine the cause of, I made paleo cupcakes, which she loved (so did I). My dad, who should be eating paleo because he has colitis, actually liked them too.

Excited about Mini AG Molly Doll

Thursday I ran a quick mile, then did some Pilates to stretch out my tight muscles from running every day. Then we went to the park, the bug's well visit. We got the orders for allergy tests, stool and urine sample. Then we had 1.5 hours of dance.

Friday I got up late so I didn't run. Then I hung out with the girls and we went to lunch. I had a 2-egg Swiss and mushroom omelette and corned beef hash. After that I came home and ran 4 miles. Not my brightest idea, I felt like puking the whole time, but I made it and felt great after. Then I went to work until 11:30 pm.

Saturday I spent the morning with two of the girls taking dance pictures, after running one fast mile). Such a mess, it was 106 days yesterday, and hundreds of little girls and moms shoved into hot rooms in costumes and makeup, while changing was crazy! We survived and then I went to work where all the visitors and I melted. It was just miserable! But I made it and so did they.

Today I tried to sleep in, but only made it until 7:17, I just can't sleep in! Then I ran 2 miles and did about 10 minutes of Pilates before I was just over it. I made a great scramble with sweet potato hash in it, yum! Now I'm being a lump before I head to work for the day.

Tomorrow's plan is 5 miles, I'll be back to post after...

Happy New Year? Or, I Just Remembered I Have a Blog...

No sense in making all kinds of excuses about why I haven't been here, I just plumb forgot about it! Life got SO busy and I didn't think about blogging, or running really, for quite some time. But the last week or so I've been getting emails about blog post comments from "Anonymous" and it jogged my memory. That combined with the fact that I've actually started running again, made it seem like a good time to make a blog post. I can't promise that I'll be very good about posting, as I'm a bit of a spaz, or that there are even any people to read my posts, so there it is...

Here's the real quick photo recap of all that's gone on since I fell off the face of the Earth.

October - Soccer ended, Disneyland, Halloween

November - I got sick, I never get sick. Didn't run Veteran's Day or Thanksgiving, because a lump. My peanut turned 6.

December - Dance recital, Disneyland, Christmas, NEW HOUSE!!

January - Hubby gone for 2 weeks for work, my oldest daughter turned 11!

February - Nothing stands out

March - A little bit more nothing. Maybe this is when I did Color Me Rad...

April - Softball/T-Ball/Baseball madness started in addition to dance. I turned 34.

May - More madness. Local Fair. Hubby turned 42. We had a Kindergarten graduate and school got out! I ran! We went to Vegas for a wedding!

So here we are in June and my Bug just turned 9. I've run every day since Memorial Day, just 1-3 miles so far, because I'm participating in the Runner's World Running Streak. I've got lots of plans for upcoming races, but the first will be one of my favorites, a local 4th of July 10K (it will be my 3rd year in a row).
